Can I bring my own Router?

Yes. Rebel supports Bring-Your-Own-Router!

If you already have your own local network or prefer to use your own Wi‑Fi equipment, that’s absolutely fine — Rebel fully supports this.

Below is everything you need to know to get your own router up and running.

Step 1: Let Us Know You’re Using Your Own Router

If you’d like to use your own equipment, simply send our team an email.
We will remove the Rebel router from your order so your setup is fully BYO (Bring Your Own).

Step 2: Find Your PPPoE Credentials

To set up your personal router, you’ll need to log in to your device’s GUI or app and enter your PPPoE username and password.

You can find your unique PPPoE credentials inside your Rebel Portal:

  1. Go to my.rebelinternet.uk.
  2. Click “Using Your Own Router?”
  3. Your PPPoE username and password will appear there

These details are unique to your connection — please keep them private.

Step 3: Set Your VLAN

When configuring your router, make sure to set your VLAN to 101.
This step is essential for connecting correctly on the Openreach network.

A Note About Support When Using Your Own Equipment

We’re always here if you need help.
However, please keep in mind:

  • When you use third‑party equipment, our team has limited visibility inside your home network.
  • This means future troubleshooting may be more challenging.
  • We can still test your broadband line externally, but we cannot see or diagnose issues within your personal router or Wi‑Fi setup.

If you ever need support, just reach out — we’ll always do our best to assist with what we can see.
