Why am I not online? My start date is today.
Just plugged in your Rebel R1 Router to the Openreach socket and seeing a red light? Don’t worry—that simply means your broadband line isn’t active yet.
When will my broadband go live?
Openreach activates your line remotely on your start date. This can happen anytime up until 5 PM, so it’s totally normal for your router to show a red light before then.
Once the line is live, that light will turn green—and you’re good to go!
What if it’s still red after 5 PM?
If the red light sticks around after 5 PM, it could be because:
- There’s an authentication issue on the line
- Or there’s a fault with Openreach’s network
